Federal government officials last week said the 2010 Atlantic hurricane season will be a busy one that could spawn as many as 23 named tropical storms, including seven major hurricanes.

Florida has had little to deal with hurricane-wise since 2005, the year of Dennis, Katrina, Rita and Wilma. And we certainly can't forget 2004, with Charley, Frances, Jeanne and Ivan. But what about 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009? Local emergency officials worry those quiet years have fostered complacency toward hurricane preparation, and they stress that it only takes one storm.
